January/February/March 2012 – Changes to fresh Semen Availability

Posted by: kelly

Unfortunately Lingh & I will not be traveling down to North Island Champs. He had an altercation with a gate & came off second best before Christmas. He has a decent wound on his chest & I’m not allowed to ride him until the 6th January.

January Semen will now be available right through January until the 28/29/30th January when we will be away at Auckland Champs.

February Semen will be available right through February until we leave for Nationals on the 28th February.

March Semen available from the 5th to the 12th March by arrangement.

Lingh II Open Day Success

Thanks to everyone who came to meet Lingh II (aka Clint) on Sunday.

We had a great turn out, Clint was as reliable as ever and true to form didn’t bat an eyelid at all the spectators who’d come to see him.   We had just had 2 fantastic days of lesson’s with Brett Parbery. I think he was feeling a little tired.  We had the Horse and Pony Magazine cover our first lesson on Friday and on Saturday it all came together and I had a super feeling on him.  He feels more like a 7 year old than a 4 year old.  He’s very genetically blessed and Brett described him as a horse who really wants to be trained.  Check out the photos taken on the day under Gallery

January 2012 Lingh II Semen Availability

Posted by: kelly

Its been a fantastic start to the breeding season with Lingh getting 100% of the mares in foal so far.
All but one (a problem mare from last season) on the first insemination! His swimmers are superb!

We are heading down to North Islands Champs on 3rd January & home very late on the 7th January so semen will be unavailable between these dates. Fresh semen will available again from Monday, 8th January 2012.
At this stage we don’t have anymore away shows planned so semen will be readily availably until the end of the breeding season.  We are finishing this year the day we leave for Nationals which is on the 27th February 2012.

Lingh has exceeded all my expectations. We are growing as a partnership now and I’m really looking forward to showing him off in public at the big shows next year!

Reminder I have an open day Sunday 11th December and everyone is invited to attend (see the post below).

Lingh II Open Day on Sunday 11th December

I’d like to extend an invitation for everyone to come and meet my new stallion Lingh II.
As a double treat, Australia’s No 1 Dressage rider Brett Parbery will be visiting and will ride him and give an insight to how we are training him. It will be a fun informative day and everyone is invited to come along.

Date: 11th of December 2011
Time: 10am
Venue: Lisa Blackbourn’s at 641 State Highway 16, Kumeu.

Directions: Coming from Kumeu heading towards Waimauku.
About 1km out of Kumeu on the left hand side you will see Coopers Creek & the Tasting Shed. Continue approx 100 meters round the corner and in the dip you will see a Fruit shop on your left (our driveway is between the brick house and the fruit shop).
Go up the right of way until you see the automatic gate (if its closed, drive close to gate and I will have it set to sensor).
Drive up the driveway and continue past the house towards the truck shed.
Someone will be on hand to help with parking.
If you get lost, phone 021 751 846.
Look forward to seeing you!

First Pregnancy Confirmed for Lingh II

We have lift off! Lingh has the first mare he served in foal with twins. He is proving to be a very fertile young stallion and is consistently producing semen with 95% plus motility. He’s enjoying his “other” job as breeding stallion very much and it’s not affecting his main job as a dressage horse at all. I’m absolutely thrilled with him and he is amazing to ride & so trainable. He’s completely unaffected by the breeding & can still be put out in the paddock & tied in the yard next to the mares.

The first Lingh foal will be due in September 2012! Very exciting!

Lingh II Semen Availability
Note: Lingh II will be unavailable for fresh semen from Saturday 15th of October until Monday 24th October 2011. This is due to school holidays and Chris who helps me collect the semen being away on holiday. After these dates it’s hands on (excuse the pun).

Lingh II is finally home
He is absolutely gorgeous and has exceeded my expectations. He’s everything they said he was and so much more!
A huge thank you to Brett Parbery for finding this wonderful stallion for me.

His quality was apparent the first time I saw him. He is a very modern, elegant type & is extremely good looking with the most beautiful head. He’s only around 16.3hh, which is my ideal height & I doubt he will grow much bigger as he already looks quite finished. I thought he was taller as he carried Brett’s height so well when he was
riding him.

He was the staff favorite in quarantine & won everybody over with his smooching and easy going nature. He loaded straight onto the truck, travelled like a dream & has settled in like he has lived here all his life.

He’s had to hit the ground running as today he served his first mare.
The semen quality was over 85% and he collected like a professional so we were very happy with him. He lost 2 shoes in quarantine and my Farrier has been sick so he postponed us until Thursday. So once the shoe’s are back on Saturday will be my first ride. I can’t wait!
